The successful commercialization of a therapeutic protein not only lies in its pharmacodynamic, safety and pharmacokinetic properties, but its physicochemical properties also matter due to stability concerns in production, formulation and storage. In the past, researchers mainly focused on biological activity in screening of candidate molecules and ignored the influencing factors of their productivity. This will give rise to stability problem during subsequent process development and make the commercialization efforts in vain. Therefore, we regard physical and chemical property evaluation as a key at this stage to reduce risk of process development.
